UV Blocking Filters

UV blocking filters act as a barrier to harmful UV radiation from light sources. By placing the filter in front of the light source it protects UV sensitive materials and components.

A UV blocking filter transmits much of the visible and infrared regions and reflect near and far UV energy. The UV protection filter will reduce photochemical degradation without damage to the components when the light output is intensified.

There are many types of UV protection glasses here are some of the grades available.

UV Blocking Filter UVB1

UV blocking filter for almost complete blocking of wavelengths up to 380nm, with high visible light transmission for use in low voltage task lighting where the operator is exposed for several hours to UV radiation. It has excellent neutrality with an easy to clean hard oxides dielectric coating. The heat resistant glass substrate can withstand temperatures up to 300°C and is widely used for UV blocking in scientific instruments and apparatus.

Coating Specification

  • T ≤ = 1% up to 380nm
  • T = 50% @ 405nm ± 10nm
  • T ≥ = 90% average from 420nm – 2500nm

This material is a dielectric coated Borofloat glass available from a standard thickness of 1.10mm custom cut sizes from a sheet size of 160 x 110mm

UV Blocking Filter UVK-02

UV blocking filters with similar characteristics to UVB1 but available in larger sizes.
