Cold mirror filters are dielectric coated glass substrates and act as an effective separation of heat from light radiation. The cold mirror reflects the visible radiation while transmitting the infrared.

There are two grades of cold mirrors offered, commercial cold mirrors and precision cold mirrors (KS93/0 and KS93/45) optimised for normal and 45° incidence.
