The colour specification is to CIE equivalents of colour according to the CIE 1931 standard colourimetric system and the CIE 1964 supplementary standard colourimetric system.
Hoya glass filters may be strengthened by tempering or chemical strengthening process to be impact or thermal shock resistant.
The polished surfaces may be printed with identification marks or screen-printed designs. Coating also may be applied to the surface for anti-reflection and filter stability.
Some typical applications and products use:
Ultraviolet equipment, general photography, infrared systems, bandpass, colour correction, 3-colour separation, lowering colour temperature, raising colour temperature, photo sensitiser correction, fluorescent lamps, electronics reduction of light intensity, absorbing heat radiation, CRT display (P-43 phosphor), monochrome CRT display, checking wavelength calibration, electronic instruments, scientific instruments.
